In Thiès, families often have large courtyards in their homes. Valuing them in the form of horticultural gardens allows women facing poverty and unemployment to produce vegetables, fruits and aromatic plants for self-consumption and short circuit sales.
This innovation was largely driven by the observation that we were doing as a community health and nutrition awareness relay: low vegetable consumption, especially among urban dwellers and vulnerable people, such as pregnant women and the elderly, has serious consequences on their health.

Micro gardening guarantees access for all to quality food from healthy and sustainable agriculture. Micro-agriculture enriches the food bowl without affecting the family budget. To improve nutritional quality, a few more carrots or spinach for iron intake are not insignificant!
